Reading Room
Zeefa at her favorite activity. She has dolls, teasets, stuffed animals, costumes, playhouses and other whathaveyou, but it's always books that hold her attention the longest. We are of course delighted and hope it will be a life-long love affair. Oh, and Daffodil, the magnificent bunny, is always within arm's reach.
Incidentally, the picture of the three African ladies (Yoruban women) in the upper right corner is actually a cross-stitch that Mimi did for her. Isn't it spectacular?! She did one for Bagu as well, which is an outline of the continent of Africa with a collage of African people, animals and sights in the middle. Awesome as well. If I can remember, I'll get closer pictures of both on here soon.
Also? I adore Zee's room. Partly because the tropical garden theme is so totally her little personality and partly because everything was a gigantic bargain...I found her bed on Craig's List and dresser knobs super-cheap at Lowe's; turned her black bookshelf into a suh-weet metallic, earthy green one with paint from our nearby Home Depot (you can see a sliver of it on the left); then found her bedding set on psycho clearance at BBB and her curtains (which I didn't even realize existed) several months later at our favorite local thrift store. Yeah, baby. I think I actually squealed when I first saw them on the shelf. Apparently some freakishly large buyout from who-knows-what retail store.
And, as I am prone to do, I have probably gone over the top with them in her room. They are on all four walls. (In my defense, she said she wanted them when given the options!) Two have windows, but a third set serves as a backdrop for the open-back bookshelf and the fourth is just background wall covering behind her little tea table. I may or may not have also cut an extra curtain down to size for a tablecloth on said tea table.
Yes, I am aware of my psychosis.
At least it came at a bargain price this time.
The end.

This picture is absolutely precious! (Actually, all of the pics of the kiddos are pretty darn precious.)
